APRIL NEWS
We're beginning Module 4 in ELA (Natural Disasters in the Western Hemisphere). We are effectively engaging in discussions with diverse partners about fifth-grade topics and texts. (SL.5.1) We are using quotes to make inferences from the text and to explain the meaning of informational texts. (RI.5.1) We are also accurately synthesizing information from multiple texts on the same topic. (RI.5.9)
In Social Studies, we are studying westward expansion. We've just analyzed the Louisiana Purchase. What a deal!
Working with words beginning with circum-/amphi-/ambi-/trans-/ is keeping us busy in Spelling.
In Grammar, we're working with Prepositons and Prepositional Phrases. Do you know the difference between Adjectival Phrases and Adverbial Phrases? We do!
We did well with our sacrifices and good deeds during Lent. Miss DiLello is proud of us. She's also proud to announce that Angelina Claudio and Khyla Graham are our representatives in the Fifth Grade Citywide Spelling Bee.
We've been practicing diligently for the Spring Concert. Make sure to mark your calendar and come to see us perform. We'll put you in "summer mode" ahead of schedule!!!
